This is a real life saver and every Blogger should make this step compulsory for the well being of the log. Usually we only stress on the popularity of the blog with SEO techniques and what not… But there should be proper risk management also… If your blog is gone then what will you do with the popularity,… I am going to di this now.. and as I see… this is not at all difficult.

Pascal, I’m pretty new to FTP. This was a big help, both as a non-techie, and someone who doesn’t want to lose all their blog data:) Luckily, I’ve never lost any info, but I know every blogger lives in terror of the day that everything vanishes and they forget their backups.

Yes. Josh. Bloggers should take care of their backup process. Better they should automate the back up process. SO that we can do other works without worrying about that.

This just seems way to easy.

I have read other posts where they recommend using plugins, and about 20 steps for backup and restore. With all the different information out there I didn’t even think about a simple download of the blog.

    Thanks.

You are leaving out the most important step, the database needs to be backed up using PHPMyAdmin, otherwise all your posts go bye bye
