Last couple of days we have seen about how to use wordpress adimn options via series posts today’s video tutorial is about how to add more users and members in your wordpress admin also how to add profile for the particular user.
We can add multiple users in wordpress admin. And give particular role for them, depends on the role wordpress admin access has been changed. We see user role and access in detail about in upcoming posts. This video tutorial explains about how to update profile in wp-admin and add new users to wp-admin.
How to add users in wordpress admin
There are two ways to add users to our blog. First one the administrator of the blog can add user to the blog by adding username, email and password for particular person who wants to contribute your blog. Automatically username and password send to the user via email. The user can change his password but username can’t be changed.
The second one is the administrator can give access to register any one as user in his blog finally admin will approve them as user and give access also assign particular role for them.
How Add another User by administrator
Go to wordpress admin select ‘add new’ under ‘Users’ tab. The new window will open, here you need to give username (not be changed) and give email address of who you want to add as user and give password.
Mark the check box ‘Send this password to new user via email’.
Select the role for him as contributor or other you want. Don’t give administrator role. If you give him as administrator he can able to change your role. So be careful about selecting the role for users. Upcoming post I will give detail about user roles.
Finally click on add user. Now the new user has been created he can access the blog with his role.
He can edit his profile by clicking the ‘your profile’ option under ‘Users’ tab in his login. He cannot change his user name. Depends on the role his admin access has changed.
Administrator Give access to Register any one as user
To give access to register any one as user, go to wordpress admin select ‘general’ option under ‘Settings” tab. The new window will open like the below image. Here you should fill all the information and give the email id you for admin purpose and if any new user added to your blog notification comes to this mail.
Mark the Membership checkbox ‘any one can register’. And set the default role for the as subscriber. Just he can see your admin after your approval. Don’t give administrator role. If you give him as administrator he can able to change your role if you are approved him. So be careful about selecting the role for users. Finally click on save changes.
If any Reader wants to contribute as a member to your blog they should register using the url http://www.yoursitename.com/wp-register.php. Once they enter the url in address bar the below screen will appear.
Here the reader can give their username and email address then click on register button. The nodification send to administrator. The password will send to his email if administrator enabled the option ‘anyone can register’. If admin didn’t enabled this option reader get 404 error. The reader can login using the username and password as a subscriber. Then he can change his profile by clicking ‘your profile’ option under ‘Users’ tab. Share your experience in comment section.
