As we know thesis navigation menu is very simple and clear. Thesis theme version 1.6 offers an option to create your dropdown menu navigation bar. In this tutorial I am going to tell about how to add dropdown navigation menu in thesis.
How to add Tabs in Navigation Menu
- goto your wordpress admin then select thesis options in the left sidebar of the dashboard. Under thesis options we have three tabs select first one ‘thesis options’.
- Here we have navigation menu and under navigation menu we have some option to appear tabs in navigation menu.
- We can select pages, categories, home link and other feed links.
- First select pages to add in navigation menu option inside this, select pages like about us, contact, services and etc you can edit page name in order to appear better look.
- Click on ‘big ass to save button’.
Now visit your site selected pages appeared in navigation menu like home, about us, contact and services.
How to create Dropdown Navigation Menu
- You are having four tabs in navigation. You need to create contact page under about page.
- Goto wordpress dashboard select edit ‘pages’ tab.
- Now select edit in contact page.
- Inside contact page we have ‘attributes’ section in right side
- Inside this we have options to select parent page. Here you need to select ‘about us’ page in order to make contact page under about us.
- Now click on ‘update’ and check your site.
Similarly for categories goto ‘thesis options’ select categories under navigation menu which you need in navigation bar.
Click on ‘big ass save button’.
Go to ‘categories’ under ‘posts’ in left side bar of the word press dashboard.
Select edit in particular category.
Choose parent for the particular selected category.
Click on ‘update category’
Now check your site navigation only parent categories are appear under the parent we have the dropdown list.

Hi there, I wonder if you can help me. You’ve given great instructions on how to add a drop down menu item to thesis. I’ve done what you suggested and rechecked it several times. For some reason the drop down tab won’t display. I’ve typed in the URL of that page to make sure the page is published and it is. Any chance you have a suggestion? I would really appreciate it.
